Ashthon Jones’ Journey

Posted: 15 Mar 2011 04:09 PM PDT

The morning after Nashville’s Ashthon Jones was eliminated from American Idol’s tenth season in thirteenth place, she hopped on the phone for a press call. Ashthon talked optimistically about her journey and the road ahead.

Ashthon quit her job to audition for American Idol. Does she have plans to go back? Nope! She shared, “I’ve worked all my life and now it’s time for me to be the artist and the performer that God put in me a long time ago. I’ve just got to go on further in my [music] career, and hopefully opportunities are there waiting for me. So, I’m very excited about what’s to come. I have no idea what’s going to happen, but I feel it in my spirit that it’s something great.”

During the Top 24 results show, Ashthon found out she wasn’t voted into the Top 10 by America, but she earned her spot when she sang “And I’m Telling You” for a wild card pass to the Top 13. Then, she received the fewest votes the next week of the competition. Ashthon reasoned, “I don’t really think that the show showed my personality as much as I wanted to. But it was okay because everything happens for a reason. I’m kind of glad that the judges saw that personality of a diva, but I didn’t want the world to see me as diva-like I think I’m all that. I wanted them to see the confidence that I have came from God, and that’s it. I have faith and confidence in myself, and I was never timid on stage. I’ve been performing before, even back home, and I’ve always liked to engage the crowd and dance with them and … read more

Happy Birthday, Siobhan Magnus!

Posted: 15 Mar 2011 04:09 PM PDT

Season 9′s sixth place finalist, Siobhan Magnus, turns 21 today! The past year has been a whirlwind for the Massachusetts native. She spent 2010 performing on American Idol, touring the nation with the American Idols LIVE! Tour, and then settled back in her hometown to pursue music.

In October, the Halloween-lover and horror film aficionado became the Grand Marshal for the “March of the Horribles” parade in Cape Cod, MA. After the parade, she performed with her band, Lunar Valve.

Siobhan and Lunar Valve will perform on Friday, April 01 at 7:00 PM at Siobhan’s alma mater, Barnstable High School. The benefit concert will take place at BHS’s performing arts center to raise funds for the high school’s senior class celebration and for the drama club.

There will be a special event on June 18 called “An Evening with Siobhan Magnus.” Siobhan will perform with Lunar Valve and with Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra at the Melody Tent in Cape Cod. Lunar Valve will kick off the evening and feature Siobhan’s unique vocals on original songs written by the band. A Siobhan showcase will follow featuring songs the Idol finalist loves to sing, including a few of her hits from Season 9. The evening will wrap up with a high energy, theatrical set with Siobhan and her favorite show band, The Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra, who will present “rock opera” versions of some of the biggest songs of Queen, David Bowie, The Who, Led Zeppelin and more.

Siobhan has co-written and recorded four original songs in Nashville, TN with the folks at Pacific … read more
