From Celine Dion to Michael Jackson and Diana Ross to Stevie Wonder, these are the bold song choices of the Top 13. | Happy Birthday, Carrie Underwood! Posted: 11 Mar 2011 05:06 PM PST Season 4′s American Idol, Carrie Underwood, celebrates her 28th birthday today, and her first birthday as Mrs. Fisher. The birthday girl has a big month ahead of her. Carrie is nominated for an Academy of Country Music Award for Top Female Vocalist of the Year. Carrie’s no stranger to this award show! She’s a two-time reigning Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year and a three-time ACM Female Vocalist winner. We’ll find out if she brings the title home again on April 3rd. The Season 4 American Idol will also appear and be honored at the Academy of Country Music’s “Girls’ Night Out: Superstar Women of Country.” Carrie will be recognized for being the only female artist in the Academy’s history to ever win Entertainer of the Year twice: first in 2008 and again in 2009 (she is the reigning Entertainer of the Year, since Awards recognize the previous calendar year’s work). She is also scheduled to perform with Vince Gill. On April 8, Carrie will make her big screen debut in the movie Soul Surfer. Carrie stars as Sarah Hill, a church youth leader. | Jennifer Hudson Tops the Charts Posted: 11 Mar 2011 05:06 PM PST Season 3 finalist Jennifer Hudson‘s single “Where You At” has reached the #1 spot on the Bubbling Under the Hot 100 Billboard chart.The American Idols have now accumulated 290 #1s to date, counting all national, domestic charts compiled by the Billboard Information Group.Her sophomore studio album, I Remember Me, drops in stores on March 22nd. | Top 13 Results and Top 12 News Posted: 11 Mar 2011 05:06 PM PST Season 10 finalist Ashthon Jones was eliminated on Thursday’s American Idol after she received the fewest of America’s votes. On Wednesday’s performance show, the Top 13 performed songs by their music idols, and Jones, 24, from Valdosta, GA, sang “When You Tell Me That You Love Me.” In addition, Adam Lambert sang his latest hit, “Aftermath,” and Diddy-Dirty Money featuring Skylar Grey took the stage to perform “Coming Home.” It was also announced tonight that the Judges’ Save returns this season. Like last year, up until only five finalists remain, the judges - if they unanimously agree – have the option to save from elimination the finalist receiving the lowest number of votes. The judges do not have to save a finalist during the competition. However, if they choose to use the Judges’ Save, they may only do so once during the season. The following week, the two finalists receiving the lowest number of votes will be eliminated.
