Carrie Underwood Wins Big at the ACAs Posted: 08 Dec 2010 08:03 AM PST Season 4 American Idol Carrie Underwood was the big winner at the first-ever American Country Awards broadcast live on FOX from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Carrie brought home the biggest awards of the night including two Artist of the Year awards, Album of the Year, and Single of the Year. Fans logged on to theacas.com to cast votes in support of their favorite country music artists. Here are the six awards that Carrie took home:

David Archuleta on FOX’s NYE LIVE Posted: 08 Dec 2010 08:03 AM PST Season 7′s runner-up, David Archuleta, will take the stage to perform his latest hits on NEW YEAR’S EVE LIVE airing Friday, Dec. 31 at 11pm on FOX. As 2011 nears, host Nancy O’Dell and FOX cameras will capture every electrifying moment from Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and the heart of New York City as the world-famous New Year’s Eve Ball makes its descent into Times Square. Additional performers to be announced soon. David captured two years’ worth of introspection and reflection, dozens of songwriting sessions and long days spent in the studio on his recently released second album, The Other Side of Down. The follow-up to his 2008 self-titled debut, the album serves as a reintroduction to the 19-year-old Murray, UT, native who has the angelic voice 30 million viewers fell in love with on Idol. Multi-platinum recording artist Travie McCoy will also perform on the program. NEW YEAR’S EVE LIVE is executive-produced by Bob Bain, produced by Paul Flattery and directed by Michael Dempsey. Danny Gokey Talks: Christmas, New Album, and Duets Posted: 08 Dec 2010 08:03 AM PST Season 8′s Danny Gokey had a wonderful year with a record-breaking debut album, a new hometown, and an American Country Award nomination. The Milwaukee native opened up exclusively to AmericanIdol.com about “Tennessee Christmas,” plans for his sophomore album, and Carrie Underwood. Danny released a holiday single, “Tennessee Christmas,” in November. Why did he choose to record this song? “I liked that the song wasn’t overdone,” Danny said. “It’s a pretty song, and I love Amy Grant and her version of the song. Alabama and Lee Greenwood also did great covers of the song, but ‘Tennessee Christmas’ isn’t a song people are sick of hearing, and I like that. Also, moving to Tennessee inspired me to select this song to cover. It’s a song I could sing with my soulful country voice.” Will Danny be having a Tennessee Christmas this year? “No, I’ll be in Milwaukee for Christmas. I’d be by myself if I spent it in Tennessee.” The country singer received an American Country Award nomination as Artist of the Year: Breakthrough Artist.
