| Kara DioGuardi Talks About Hollywood Week Posted: 13 Feb 2010 05:56 PM PST American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi recently talked about Hollywood Week on a press call. After completing a second season of Hollywood auditions, Kara shared her perspective on the Season 9 Hollywood Week experience. Hollywood Week auditions saw the addition of Ellen DeGeneres to the judges panel. Kara commented on Ellen saying, She had a really good handle on whether a contestant had potential, whether they had a star quality. She knew if something was off in the vocals or in their performance, and I thought she delivered the message with kindness, but also had criticism in there. The addition of Ellen also means that Karas not the new girl any longer, and shes feeling good about her second season on American Idol. Im definitely more relaxed and more comfortable because Im a little bit more used to being [on] TV, Kara stated. Every time we had an audition city there was a new judge. With Hollywood Week, we had Ellen. So I just wanted to kind of keep open to everything and just be in the moment and try to be the best judge I could be. She said it was scary to go from a behind-the-scenes songwriter to judging talent in front of 30 million people. I think that people thought I was very serious last year, like I didnt maybe have a sense of humor. I feel like I do, that actually Im more of a goofball than probably anybody on that panel. | “We Are The World 25 For Haiti” Premieres Tonight Posted: 13 Feb 2010 05:56 PM PST During tonights Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the video for We Are The World 25 For Haiti will premiere for all of the world to see. The footage features many of todays most influential artists including American Idol finalists Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson, Katharine McPhee, and judge Randy Jackson. Idols Music Director, Rickey Minor, served as a co-producer of the studio recording. The event was put together by legendary producer Quincy Jones and singer/songwriter Lionel Richie as part of their Download to Donate campaign. We Are the World is a song and charity single originally recorded by the supergroup USA for Africa in 1985. It was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, and co-produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian for the album We Are the World. The album received many honors including three Grammy Awards, one American Music Award, and a Peoples Choice Award. We Are The World 25 For Haiti features over 80 artists and performers singing We Are The World 25 years after the original was recorded. All funds raised benefit the Haitian earthquake relief efforts and the rebuilding of Haiti. Idol Gives Back is returning this April. Learn more.
