‘Love in the Wild’: 2x the Reality, 2x the Fun

I’ve never really followed an entire season of reality dating show, except for Meredith’s turn on ‘The Bachelorette’, mainly because I was pretty sure she was doing it as a joke.

So color me surprised to find I actually enjoyed the debut of ‘Love in the Wild’ last week and have mentally penciled episode two into my calendar this Wednesday (9PM ET/PT, CTV/NBC). The show definitely hearkens back to the era of ‘Paradise Hotel’ or ‘Temptation Island’ but manages to feel like a fresher take on the pretty-people-in-a-hot-tub genre. Basically, it’s a blatant attempt to mix ‘Survivor’ with ‘The Bachelor’. The result includes some of the best and worst elements of both of those shows.

‘Transformers 3′ Takes Over the Box Office

Posted: 04 Jul 2011 08:32 PM PDT

“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” pulled in $116.4 million at the box office over the four-day Fourth of July weekend, bringing its total to $181.1 million since opening Tuesday night, according to AP.

The movie, the third installment in the robot franchise about a battle for Earth being waged by shape-shifting machines from another world, also added $217 million overseas, with a worldwide total of nearly $400 million.

Paramount Pictures estimated 60 percent of the box office grosses came from premium-priced 3D ticket sales, giving a boost to the lagging technology which had seen a wane in theater revenue in the last year.

Pixar’s animated “Cars 2,” which was on top last week, slipped considerably in its second weekend with $32.1 million. The Cameron Diaz comedy “Bad Teacher” dropped to third place with $14.1 million, and newcomer “Larry Crowne,” a romantic comedy starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, opened in fourth with $13 million.

“Independence Day” (1996)

“Y’know, this was supposed to be my weekend off, but noooo. You got me out here draggin’ your heavy ass through the burnin’ desert with your dreadlocks stickin’ out the back of my parachute. You gotta come down here with an attitude, actin’ all big and bad… and what the hell is that SMELL?” – Captain Steven Heller (Will Smith)

“Pirates of the Caribbean” Series

“The only rules that really matter are these: what a man can do and what a man can’t do… And me, for example, I can let you drown, but I can’t bring this ship into Tortuga all by me onesies, savvy? So, can you sail under the command of a pirate, or can you not?” — Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp)

“Sex and The City” (2008)

“And we were dressed from head to toe in love… the only label that never goes out of style.” – Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker)

And my wolf pack… it grew by one. So there… there were two of us in the wolf pack… I was alone first in the pack, and then Doug joined in later. And six months ago, when Doug introduced me to you guys, I thought, “Wait a second, could it be?” And now I know for sure, I just added two more guys to my wolf pack. Four of us wolves, running around the desert together, in Las Vegas, looking for strippers and cocaine. So tonight, I make a toast!" -Alan Garner (Zach Galifianakis)

You’re the guys that think this sh*t up! I’m sure you got a team of men sitting around somewhere right now just thinking sh*t up and somebody backing them up! You’re telling me you don’t have a backup plan, that these eight boy scouts right here, that is the world’s hope, that’s what you’re telling me?” — Harry Stampler (Bruce Willis)

William and Kate’s Quebecois Adventure

Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge continued their Canadian tour in Montreal this weekend.

The Royal couple spent Saturday at Montreal’s top cooking school, Institut de tourisme et d’hotellerie du Quebec, where Prince William impressed his host, Quebec’s premier Jean Charest, by making a lobster soufflé, People.com reports.

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge learned how to make an amuse-bouche of foie gras on a toasted brioche with apple cider jelly. “I asked her if she liked to cook at home,” Theresa Rindress, 23, a cooking student told reporters later. “She said she likes to cook, but does not do fancy things.”

The newlyweds also enjoyed some alone time together. They spent a romantic picnic at the official private country retreat of Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Lake Harrington.

“They had a really enjoyable, relaxing afternoon – just the two of them,” the source told People.

The Walking Dead: Creator Weighs In on Season 1′s Biggest Mystery

[WARNING: The following story contains possible spoilers for Season 2 of AMC's The Walking Dead and definite spoilers from the graphic novels. Read at your own risk.]

It’s the most talked-about whisper since Lost went to TV heaven: What did The Walking Dead‘s Dr. Jenner tell Rick just before the survivors left the Centers for Disease Control in the Season 1 finale?

In the episode’s closing moments, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his not-so-merry men learned that the CDC headquarters, their safe haven, was set to self-destruct. But before Dr. Jenner (Noah Emmerich) blew the place sky-high, he whispered something to Rick. Judging by Rick’s reaction, Dr. Jenner’s final words seem to be vitally important… and somewhat of a shock. But what did he say?

The Walking Dead creator on Season 2: “This world will get more dangerous”

Although the show won’t return until the fall, the suspense is killing us. So we did some thinking — and some careful reading of Robert Kirkman‘s graphic novel upon which the show is based — and came up with our two best guesses. Then we took them straight to Kirkman, who, to our surprise, told us that one of our theories isn’t far off! But which one? See what you think…

It’s fair to say there has been a mixed reaction to CBS’ announcement that Big Brother 13 would feature the return of “dynamic duos” from the show’s past. For every fan thrilled by the prospect of seeing their favorite players again, there is another who would rather not spend another summer with Jessie, aka “Mr. Pectacular,” admiring himself in the mirror.

Big Brother Season 13 to feature past “dynamic duos;” 8 houseguests revealed

Here at TVGuide.com, we see validity in each argument, but one thing is key: We want to watch game-players, not self-obsessed famemongers whose sole purpose is to stir the pot — and boost ratings — until the house kicks them out. So, in order for us to fully invest in this season’s twist, casting of the returning twosomes is key.

Behold, the five teams we’d most enjoy watching again this summer…
