American Idol Takes Home Fifth People’s Choice Award

Last night, the 37th People’s Choice Awards took place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, which is where the last three American Idol finales were held. Fans had the opportunity to vote over the past few months, and American Idol took home the award for Favorite Competition Show!

This is the fifth People’s Choice Award for American Idol. Fans awarded the show with a crystal trophy in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, and now 2011. Thank you to everyone who voted for American Idol.

Adam Lambert Included on Grammy Album

Last month, Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert earned a Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. It was announced today that Adam’s hit single “Whataya Want From Me” was included on the 17th edition of the Grammy Nominees album. The song is track #8 of 19. The CD will be available January 25th, and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the album will benefit the MusiCares Foundation and the Grammy Foundation.

The award show will take place on Sunday, February 13. See which other American Idol alumni were nominated for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards.

Good Year for Gokey

Season 8′s Danny Gokey is ending 2010 on a high note. The 19 Recordings/RCA Nashville recording artist Danny’s My Best Days, released March 2, scanned in excess of 65,000 copies in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan, outpacing opening-week sales on other 2010 debut releases.

My Best Days set multiple chart records upon its release, including the best first-week sales of any debut country male in 18 years and, with more than 19,000 downloads, earning the best opening-week digital album sales ever recorded by a debut country act.

Danny’s first holiday recording, the beautiful “Tennessee Christmas,” is at radio now, and the song is available for download at your favorite online music retailer, as well as on Danny’s site.
