Last year, fans raised more than $12,000 in one day-talk about a great gift! David returns to the Annual Race for Hope on May 1, 2011 in Washington, DC for his third year to help raise awareness and funding to benefit the brain tumor community. The Race for Hope is in its 14th year and David’s team is looking to become the top fundraising team for the third time in a row. Last year the team contributed an impressive $152,306.74! The new year is shaping up to be a great one for the Idol champion. He has been working hard on a new album, which will release in early 2011. David also has plans to embark on a tour to promote the new music. David’s self-titled album was certified Platinum by the RIAA and includes the popular singles “Light On,” “Come Back To Me,” and his Idol anthem “Time of My Life.” Billboard’s 2009 Year End Chart had David Cook as the #4 Top Rock Album. David returned to the Idol stage last season to perform “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” in honor of Season 9′s Rolling Stones Week. The North Carolina native had a successful run on American Idol, where the Wild Card round made him the first-ever 13th finalist. The college grad ended up making it all the way to sixth place. When Anoop auditioned for American Idol in 2008, he suggested the nickname “Anoop Dawg” to Randy Jackson, and the moniker has stuck with him since! Anoop had a great year in 2010. He released his debut album, All Is Fair, which included his single “My Name.” After touring the nation with the American Idols LIVE! 2009 tour, Anoop moved to Los Angeles to begin working on All Is Fair. The soulful singer mixed pop, R&B, and Indian influences to create his own sound. Since Anoop put out the album without the support of a major record label, he had complete control over All Is Fair, whether it was writing or release plans. Anoop teamed up with Season 6 finalist Brandon Rogers, who co-wrote three songs on the 8-song EP. Another Season 6 finalist, Chris Richardson, co-wrote a different song on the disc.
