Billboard’s Best of 2010

December is a time for award nominations and year-end lists. Billboard.com has compiled their 2010 year-end charts. An impressive 10 Idol alums made the list this year, and most of them appeared on multiple charts. They are: Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert, Daughtry, Kris Allen, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, Danny Gokey, Kellie Pickler, Blake Lewis, and Chris Sligh.

Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta‘s album, The Other Side Of Down, is the top album for the Billboard Readers’ Poll: Favorite Album for 2010. Fans voted for their favorite album on Billboard.com, where David edged out other fan favorites like Justin Bieber, Eminem, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry.

This Week in Idol History

This week in Idol history, two Season 4 rockers made marks on the calendar. Five years ago today, Season 4 runner-up Bo Bice released his debut album, The Real Thing. The album sold 227,000 copies, debuting at #4 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Bo worked with music industry hot-shots like Richie Sambora, Chad Kroeger, and Max Martin on the album, which went on to receive a Gold certification by the RIAA.

Season 4′s Constantine Maroulis performed the National Anthem at a 49ers vs. Bengals football gave on December 15, 2007. Currently, Constantine stars in the national tour of Rock of Ages. Check out the AI-Insider‘s Weekly Scoop to see where Constantine is performing each week.

Crystal Bowersox’s CD is Now Available

Season 9′s runner-up, Crystal Bowersox, released her debut album today with 19 Recordings/Jive Records. Farmer’s Daughter features 8 songs written by Crystal, including “Holy Toledo”, the original song she performed on Idol during her hometown visit. The album also includes two co-writes, an additional track written by one of Crystal’s Idol judges, Kara DioGuardi, and Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, an amazing Buffalo Springfield cover, and the very special “Mason”, written by Crystal and her husband Brian Walker.

The tracks on Farmer’s Daughter are:

To promote her record, Crystal has been on the talk show circuit. On Friday she performed on The Tonight Show and yesterday she visited Live with Regis & Kelly. This Thursday, Crystal will reunite with Season 9 Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and next Wednesday Crystal will join Chelsea Handler on the set of Chelsea Lately.

Carrie Underwood Receives a Golden Globe Nomination

American Idol Carrie Underwood has won Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, Country Music Association Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, and last week she was 6-for-6 at the first-ever American Country Awards. Today, Carrie received her first Golden Globe nomination for “There’s A Place For Us,” the theme song from Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Carrie co-wrote the music and lyrics for “There’s A Place For Us” with David Hoges (Kelly Clarkson, David Archuleta, Daughtry) and Hillary Lindsey, who often co-writes with Carrie.

“I am absolutely thrilled by this wonderful honor today,” Carrie said. “It was such an exciting endeavor to have been asked to create music for the film. I grew up with the books and have been a fan of the earlier two movies. I can’t wait for the Golden Globes!”

We will find out if Carrie adds Golden Globe-winner to her resume on Sunday, January 16th when the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards air.
