Happy Birthday, Jasmine Murray!

Posted: 13 Dec 2010 04:05 PM PST

Season 8 finalist Jasmine Murray was just 16 years old when she auditioned for American Idol, and yesterday she turned 19! The Mississippi native may have been one of the youngest contestants, but she showed a lot of maturity in her voice and the way she carried herself.

During the auditions round, we learned that Jasmine has a very close relationship with her mother and her older sisters, and all of them accompanied Jasmine at auditions. Throughout her run in the competition, Jasmine chose young, modern pop songs to sing. Jasmine formed a close relationship with the other young contestant on Season 8, Allison Iraheta, and Allison mentioned how sad she was when Jasmine was eliminated, but they kept in touch and remained good friends after she left the show. Last September, Jasmine performed two days at the Delta Fair & Music Festival in Memphis, Tennessee. The singer performed several shows this year including Mary Kay’s “It’s in the Bag” seminar and the Power Players Luncheon.

What’s next for Jasmine? She revealed some exciting information in her birthday tweet on Twitter: “Goodmorning! So I have had the best time in Nashville writing and recording! BTW my birthday is tomorrow and I’m super excited!!! yay!”

Happy Birthday, Jasmine!
