This week in American Idol history, the two champions from Birmingham, Alabama released their debut albums. See what else happened this week!

Six years ago on December 7th, Season 3′s runner-up, Diana DeGarmo, released her debut album, Blue Skies. Currently, Diana stars as Doralee Rhodes in the touring production of 9 to 5: The Musical. On December 7, 2006, Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood received four Grammy nominations. Last week, Carrie received another Grammy nomination for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for her song “Temporary Home” off the album Play On. See who else received a Grammy nomination last week.

On December 9, 2003, Season 2 Idol winner Ruben Studdard released his debut album, Soulful. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and before it was even released, the album sold over 1 million copies in pre-orders!

The day after Ruben released his debut album, Season 2 runner-up Clay Aiken performed his hit single “Invisible” and won the Billboard Music Award for having the best-selling single.

Adam Lambert’s Acoustic Album is Now Available

Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert released his new EP, Acoustic Live!, today. The EP includes five acoustic tracks:

  1. “Whataya Want From Me” (Live at ENERGY Berlin 103.4)
  2. “Music Again” (Live at Hit Radio FFH)
  3. “Aftermath” (Live at Glamnation)
  4. “Soaked” (Live at Glamnation)
  5. “Mad World” (Live at Glamnation)

This has been a great week for the singer. Not only did he release an EP, but Adam received a Grammy nomination on Wednesday for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Whataya Want From Me.”
