This fight became possible when Mayweather became available after his agreement for a fight with manny pacquiao went to ashes. Both fighters agreed to fight each other but it's the drug testing protocol that stopped the negotiation because Pacquiao camp did not agree on Mayweather's camp Olympic style drug testing which is not a requirement under the NSAC.

Shane Mosley will be fighting in the ring with Floyd Mayweather Jr. for the welterweight super fight where Mosley will be defending his title for the welterweight division against the unbeatable Floyd Mayweather, Jr. this May 1st at the MGM Grant in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Shane Mosley, on the other hand, was set to fight Andre Berto but Berto's family was affected by the Haiti earthquake so he withdrew from the fight. Then, negotiations between Mosley and Mayweather's camp began.
