Posted: 23 Jan 2010 09:43 AM PST

On January 12, 2010, Haiti was hit by an earthquake that has caused mass devastation to the Caribbean nation. As a result, broadcast and cable networks will join forces tonight to simulcast an earthquake relief global telethon for Haiti.

Tune in to FOX on January 22 at 8/7c for Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief. Some of the greatest musicians around will perform at the benefit concert, which will be broadcast from New York, London, Los Angeles, and Haiti. One of the superstars performing in New York is American Idols own Jennifer Hudson. In addition, Season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee will make an appearance at the Los Angeles event. Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta tweeted that he will be answering phones at the event to take pledges.

“Hope for Haiti Now,” will benefit Oxfam America, Partners in Health, the Red Cross, UNICEF, United Nations World Food Programme, Yele Haiti Foundation and the newly formed Clinton Bush Haiti Foundation. Proceeds from “Hope for Haiti Now” will be split among each organization’s individual funds for Haiti earthquake relief.

Bo Bice welcomes son No. 3

Posted: 23 Jan 2010 09:43 AM PST

A hearty congratulations to Bo Bice and his wife, Caroline, who celebrated the birth of their third son, Ean Jacob Bice, this morning. The little guy arrived in the world a little early (Caroline's due date was Jan. 31, according to People), and joins brothers Aidan, 4, and Caleb, 1.

Bo tweeted the good news this morning, with the message: "Welcome To Life My Son, U Make Us Proud." On his official website, Bo joked: "The Bice Brothers Band has a new bass player."

In honor of this joyous occasion, we wanted to take a trip down Bo Bice lane with his killer "Idol" performance of Gavin DeGraw's "I Don't Wanna Be," but we couldn't find a decent quality clip, so here's the video for Bo's hit song, "The Real Thing."

Blake Lewis challenges Season 9 beatboxer to a battle

Posted: 23 Jan 2010 09:43 AM PST

It was the beatbox dis heard across the "Idol" world. Orlando contestant Jay Stone, who auditioned for the judges with a left-of-center version of the Beatles' "Come Together," told judge Randy Jackson he deserved a golden ticket to Hollywood just as much as Season 6's Blake Lewis because he can beatbox and sing at the same time — snap!

So, of course, we reached out to Blake for a reaction, and he responded with a good-natured challenge. "This week on 'American Idol,' I got called out by a fellow beatbox
contestant," he told Idol Tracker. "I was so glad to see someone really going for it in the art
form I love so much. If Jay ends up making it to the top 12, I'll be
sure to challenge him to a battle of skills."

Bring it on, beatboxing bad boys! Check out Jay's audition below.

Simon Cowell to rush-release charity single

Simon Cowell is doing his part to help earthquake victims in Haiti. At the urging of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, the talent show mogul said he would quickly assemble his stable of artists for a charity single, which he promises will be out "within seven to 10 days."

Speaking to members of the British media at Thursday night's National TV Awards ("The X Factor" won for best entertainment show), Cowell said he'd already locked in Leona Lewis, Susan Boyle and "X Factor" judge Cheryl Cole, and his plan was simply to "put the word out and see what comes in the next two to three days."

In other philanthropic news, "Idol Gives Back" will indeed be back this year. Speaking to MTV News, "Idol" judge Randy Jackson says the special, along with his own MTV show, "America's Best Dance Crew," will "definitely address" the situation in Haiti. "It's just devastating," he said. "But you've gotta be proactive and do something about it. Join in and help."
