Happy Birthday, Mikalah Gordon! Posted: 15 Jan 2010 09:40 AM PST Season 4s eleventh place finalist, Mikalah Gordon, was just 17 years old when she was a contestant on American Idol. The now 22 year old has been busy singing, hosting, and acting. Since making her debut on American Idol, Mikalah has acted on TV shows such as Living with Fran, Identity, and The Unit. She is a natural host and worked as a correspondent on American Idol Extra, The Tyra Banks Show, and hosted David Cooks hometown finale in Missouri. One of her recent hosting gigs brought Mikalah to Denver and Boston for American Idols Season 9 auditions. Happy Birthday, Mikalah! Posted: 15 Jan 2010 09:40 AM PST Only two episodes of American Idols ninth season have aired, and there is already a new song sweeping the nation. General Larry Platt, a 62 year old veteran, shared his original song, along with some dancing and calisthenics, with Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi, and guest judge Mary J. Blige in Atlanta. The song, entitled Pants on the Ground, not only shares a message (buy a belt, kids!), but it has a catchy beat too. After General Larrys energetic performance, Simon said, I have a horrible feeling that song could be a hit. Mary J. Blige laughed until she cried, and Randy and Kara joined in with Larry on the chorus. In fact, by the end of the day the entire waiting room was getting down to Pants on the Ground. Adam Lambert to present at Critics’ Choice Awards; new video premieres today Posted: 15 Jan 2010 09:40 AM PST It's Adam Lambert Friday over at VH1. Today the network premieres Adam's new video, and later he joins Sarah Silverman as a presenter on "Critics' Choice Movie Awards" (airing at 9 p.m. PST and EST) — a potentially lethal TV combination considering their awards show reputations, so good thing it's on cable. No matter what, you can count on some laughs. On to the more moody end of the Adam Lambert spectrum: In the video for "Whataya Want From Me," which airs between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. today on VH1 and MTV, he goes from contemplative to pissed off to conciliatory as he takes on an unseen lover, the paparazzi and his own emotional turmoil. The clip was directed by Diane Martel, who's worked with the likes of Christina Check back later for a full, legit stream. – Shirley Halperin (Follow me on Twitter @shirleyhalperin) |
General Larry Platt: Let the media blitz begin Posted: 15 Jan 2010 09:40 AM PST General Larry Platt's 15-minute countdown started right around 9:25 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, when "American Idol" showcased the 63-year-old veteran's undeniably hooky "Pants on the Ground" as the final bow from Season 9's Atlanta auditions. He's since become an overnight sensation, with the audition video and a slew of extra footage, along with remixes and covers of POTG going viral almost instantly. On Monday, he's scheduled to appear on "The View," and we anticipate he'll come face to face with Randy Jackson again, who's also doing TV in New York next week. What else have we learned about this zany performer? Access Atlanta got Platt on the horn. Writer Rodney Ho reveals that the self-declared General was inspired to pen the now-infamous song when he saw a guy walking down the street with his pants slipping. "He had his underwear showing," said Platt. "He was being disrespectful so I wanted to embarrass him." The General, who's on disability possibly as a result of a shot to the eye at age 3, is also an activist at heart, having marched alongside the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1960s. His take on the government? "I like to help keep people from Will there be a "Pants on the Ground" single? Bet on it. Platt says he's considering offers to record the song. And we say, if "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kim Zolciak can do "Tardy for the Party," then why not General Larry? Even better: Maybe the two of them could get together for a duet that Kandi Burruss can then produce in her Atlanta home studio? It's all meant to be, friends… The moment that won your heart: – Shirley Halperin (Follow me on Twitter @shirleyhalperin) |
