Happy Birthday, Jessica Sierra! Posted: 12 Nov 2009 08:27 AM PST Season 4 finalist Jessica Sierra is having a birthday today. By coming in tenth placed during her season on American Idol, Jessica got to spend the summer of 2005 touring the country with her fellow finalists. After her time on American Idol, Jessica performed concerts for causes including the Special Olympics, U.S. troops overseas, and more. Towards the end of 2006, Jessica released a single titled Unbroken, and in early 2008, Jessica released an EP called Deepest Secret. Although Jessica has had some personal struggles that have been publicized, she has been recovering well over the past year and a half. Happy Birthday, Jessica! Kelly Clarkson Nominated for Artist of the Decade Posted: 12 Nov 2009 08:27 AM PST The first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, has been nominated by Rolling Stone for Artist of the Decade. Fans can vote for Kelly on the Rolling Stone Decade End Reader Poll, which also includes fields to write in your choices for Song of the Decade and Album of the Decade. The balloting runs from now until November 30, 2009. Click here for the readers poll ballot. Kelly Clarkson has entertained fans around the world for almost an entire decade. She spent the summer of 2002 performing on the first ever season of American Idol. After Kellys September 4, 2002 win, her single A Moment Like This went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2003, Kelly released her debut album, Thankful, which immediately hit the U.S. Billboard 200 charts at number one. By December 2003, the album had been certified double platinum. In 2004, Kelly released her sophomore album, Breakaway. The CD was so successful that it was eventually certified 6x Platinum. Kelly received two Grammy Awards for the album including Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the single Since U Been Gone. In 2007, Kelly released her third studio album, My December, which went platinum in the U.S. Earlier this year Kelly released her fourth album, All I Ever Wanted. Not one to waste anytime, Kelly is currently writing songs for her fifth album, which she hopes to release at the end of 2010. Good luck, Kelly! |

Carrie Underwood’s third album, ‘Play On’, tops the sales charts Posted: 12 Nov 2009 08:27 AM PST Underwood's third album, "Play On", claims the top spot on this week's Billboard 200. It's the second album from the "American Idol" winner to go No. 1 in the last two years. More than 318,000 copies of the disc were sold, making it the year's biggest seller from a female artist. Underwood's previous album, 2007's "Carnival Ride", sold 527,000 copies in its debut week. – Denise Martin |
