Carrie Underwood to Launch PLAY ON in NYC

Season 4s American Idol, Carrie Underwood, will head to New York City to celebrate and promote her new album PLAY ON, due in stores November 3. While in the Big Apple, Carrie will perform on The Late Show with David Letterman, perform a special outdoor concert at Lincoln Center on Good Morning America, and will round out her week with a visit to Live with Regis and Kelly.

After closing out the album release week, Carrie will prepare for her performance and co-hosting duties at this years 43rd Annual CMA Awards.

A four-time Grammy Award winner, ACM (Academy of Country Music) Entertainer of the Year, and reigning, three-time CMA (Country Music Association) and ACM Female Vocalist winner, Carrie re-teams for the upcoming PLAY ON with producer Mark Bright, who helmed her Carnival Ride collection as well as seven tracks from her 2005 album debut, Some Hearts.PLAY ONs debut single, Cowboy Casanova, is the fastest rising hit of the year at country radio and exploded with massive first-week sales of 110,236 digital copies. With this achievement, Carrie remains the only solo country artist this year to debut a digital single above the 100,000 mark a feat shes accomplished not once, but twice in 2009, having also hit the six digits with her recording of this past seasons American Idol farewell theme, Home Sweet Home.

Justin Guarini Joins Jazz Greats to Keep Music in Schools

On Monday, October 19, 2009, newlywed and Season 1 runner-up Justin Guarini and his wife, Reina Capodici, came to Los Angeles to perform and emcee for Education Through Music-Los Angeles (ETM-LA) Fourth Annual Benefit Gala. When Justin arrived at the gala venue, Hollywoods Catalina Jazz Club, he was met by some of his littlest fans music students of ETM-LA who were also scheduled to perform that evening.

The event brought together some of the most legendary names in jazz and contemporary music, as well as ETM-LA students. A sold-out crowd of 250 guests were treated to a night of electrifying performances by Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, the incomparable Patti Austin, a rare and triumphant concert appearance by Johnny Mathis, and soulful singing by Justin.

Just before the festivities began, Justin met with and gave a private concert to a group of young music students and fans, inspiring them to practice hard and commit to what they love. The kids were ecstatic to meet him and blown away by his sweet solo rendition of Overjoyed by Stevie Wonder. After giving out autographs, Justin gave the young performers some inspirational words: ”We are all here because of you. That is what this evening is all about and we are here rooting for you. Just be confident you’ll be great.

Justin charmed the crowd with his warm and winsome personality, and reminded guests to be generous for a cause with which he is deeply passionate about.
