A press conference was held yesterday to announce the nominees for the 2009 American Music Awards. Season 4s American Idol, Carrie Underwood, received a nomination for Favorite Female Artist in the Country genre, and Daughtry was nominated for Favorite Artist in the Adult Contemporary category. Carrie and Daughtry are no strangers to the AMAs. In 2008, Daughtry won for Favorite Band, Duo, or Group in the Pop/Rock category, and Carrie won for Favorite Album in the Pop/Rock category for Carnival Ride. Both Carrie and Daughtry won three AMAs each in 2007, and Carrie also brought home an award for Favorite New Breakthrough Artist in 2006. Other past Idols who have won AMAs include Favorite Artist Jordin Sparks in 2008, and Kelly Clarkson, who received four awards in 2005 and 2006. Adam Lambert announced yesterday on Ryan Seacrests morning radio show that he will be performing at The 37th Annual American Music Awards. The song that Adam will perform is his first single off his untitled debut album. Adam couldnt reveal much about the song, but he did admit its different from his 2012 tune Time for Miracles, saying his debut single will have a glammy feel to it. Carrie Underwood Fans Get a Sneak of Her New CD "Play On" Posted: 14 Oct 2009 02:50 PM PDT Superstar Carrie Underwoods new album Play On, will release on November 3, and a new track from the album will be available for purchase and download exclusively on iTunes every week for three weeks, with each new song also available as a free 60-second preview on Billboard.com. The exclusive iTunes Countdown pre-release tracks, which begin today with Mamas Song, all count toward the purchase of the full album through iTunes Complete My Album feature. The subsequent tracks include Temporary Home (available 10/20) and Undo It (available 10/27). For each new track every week, fans will be able to visit Billboard.com for a 48-hour sneak preview of the song immediately prior to its Tuesday release on iTunes, with each posting remaining on Billboard.com for a week from its debut. In addition to the weekly online previews at Billboard.com, Underwood will be the focus of an online feature as well as a cover feature in the print edition of Billboard, on sale October 16. Carrie will perform new music from her upcoming album as well as previous hits and holiday classics. She will be joined on stage by special musical guests and chart-topping artists including Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley and David Cook. Additional guest stars and performers to be announced.
