How to Keep the Lifetime of USB (Including PCMCIA and AirCard) Modem? Posted: 27 Oct 2009 04:07 AM PDT Having a modem is something fun, of course, is not it? You can always connect to the internet anywhere and anytime without you have to depend on the internet center or in the other words, you must not go to the internet center just for checking email, updating blog, playing online games, etc. Now, if you have had a or more USB modem (including the PCMCIA and AirCard), what should you do with that? Nothing? However, you must remember, the existence of that is very important for you. Without you having it, you can’t do your work, right? There are so many types of USB modems that I know, include lots of its brand name, like Sierra Wireless, Option, Huawei, Prolink, etc. Which you have is not problem as long as you know how to keep the lifetime of that. Warranty is OK but beside that, you must keep it as well too. The first think you must know is its battery. Knowing by go to your shop (where you buy it) to ask what is the maximum temperature when it’s operating. You must also ask what’s the minimum and maximal temperature for the environmental to keep it safely. The second is while it’s running / working / operating. Be careful about the signal strength. More weak the signal, more work the battery and modem to do more. And vice versa, when the signal got higher, the modem work more easy. Basically, you can adjust what’s the signal type to establish the signal strength so it’s always high. You must do your little experiment, set to 2G only, 3G only or automatic. From those choice, which result the strongest signal? You have got your answer? Select and use it, for example: automatic. For you know, in this mode, modem will automatically establish the highest signal from the nearest signal relay towers. After you have finished using your modem, don’t forget to unplug it and keep it in its box. Next day is same, plug it when you’re trying to use it and unplug it after you finish. Okay? Do your best! |
