Sunday, September 13, 2009:

  • Football Night in America (NBC, 7/6c, 4th season premiere)-This year, the show is increasing its emphasis on previewing the Sunday night game instead of just showing highlights from the day’s action in the NFL.
  • Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins (Cartoon Network, 7/6c, original telefilm)-An original, live-action telefilm that goes back to the beginning and shows how the gang formed Mystery Inc.
  • King of the Hill (FOX, 8/7c, one-hour series finale)-I’ve never really liked this show but I know it has its fans. FOX originally planned not to air any of the last six episodes produced but they were at least kind enough to schedule two of them including the proper series finale.
  • Sunday Night Football: Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers (NBC, 8:15/7:15c)-The first true Sunday Night Football game features the oldest rivalry in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers look to start the year off right with a division win but they’ll be facing newly acquired Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler and a solid Bears defense. If you don’t already know, I’m a diehard Green Bay Packers fan and not even the series finale of “Lost” would keep me from watching this (or any other) game.
  • Mega Beasts: Terror Bird (Discovery Channel, 9/8c, one-hour special)
  • VMA 09 (MTV, 9/8c, 135-minute special)
  • Mega Beasts: T-Rex of the Deep (Discovery Channel, 10/9c, one-hour special)

What I’ll Be Watching This Fall: Sunday

Posted: 13 Sep 2009 03:02 AM PDT

Watch Live:

  • 7/6c-America’s Funniest Home Videos
  • 8/7c-The Simpsons
  • 8:30/7:30c-The Cleveland Show
  • 9/8c-Desperate Housewives
  • 10/9c-Brothers & Sisters

Watch Online or Off Tape:

  • The Amazing Race
  • Family Guy
  • Robot Chicken
  • Three Rivers
  • Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Sunday has some very good shows (”Desperate Housewives,” “Brothers & Sisters,” “The Simpsons”) but due to football and The CW giving up on the night, there isn’t a lot of depth. I know most TV critics probably hate “America’s Funniest Home Videos” but its easily the best 6 o’clock show and I always get a few laughs out of it. “The Simpsons” is incredibly inconsistent but since it’s now in HD, it gets the nod over “The Amazing Race” in the hour. I like “Family Guy” so I’m pretty sure I’ll enjoy “The Cleveland Show” at 7:30. I’ve watched “Desperate Housewives” and “Brothers & Sisters” live pretty much since they started and nothing is good enough to stop that this year. The only shows I’ll for sure watch off tape (yes, I still use a VCR) each week are “The Amazing Race,” “Family Guy,” and “Robot Chicken.” I’ll try “Three Rivers” (I give just about any network show at least one episode to impress me) but I don’t expect to be watching it come episode two. I used to watch “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” each week but its gotten repetitive and boring. I’ll still probably watch it occasionally though.

What will you be watching on Sundays this fall?
