| Happy Birthday, Jordin Sparks! Posted: 23 Dec 2010 12:14 AM PST America’s sixth Idol, Jordin Sparks, turns 21 today! When the Glendale, Arizona native auditioned for American Idol, she was only 16 years old. To date, Jordin remains the youngest American Idol winner. Three years ago, Jordin released her self-titled debut album, which was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album included the hot singles “Tattoo,” “No Air,” and “One Step at a Time.” Jordin became the first American Idol alum to sing The National Anthem at the Super Bowl on February 3, 2008 in her hometown. On January 20, 2009, Jordin joined many notable singers and performed at President Obama’s Inaugural Ball. That summer, Jordin released her sophomore album, Battlefield. The album peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200 chart, and it included the hit singles “Battlefield” and “S.O.S. (Let the Music Play).” To promote her new music, Jordin toured in 2009 with the Jonas Brothers and she also joined Britney Spears on her “Circus” tour. This summer, Jordin toured the nation on her very own “The Battlefield Tour.” A month after the tour ended, Jordin made her Broadway debut in the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical, In The Heights. The 19 Recordings/RCA Nashville recording artist Danny’s My Best Days, released March 2, scanned in excess of 65,000 copies in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan, outpacing opening-week sales on other 2010 debut releases. My Best Days set multiple chart records upon its release, including the best first-week sales of any debut country male in 18 years and, with more than 19,000 downloads, earning the best opening-week digital album sales ever recorded by a debut country act. Danny’s first holiday recording, the beautiful “Tennessee Christmas,” is at radio now, and the song is available for download at your favorite online music retailer, as well as on Danny’s site.
