Season 8 star Danny Gokey is from Wisconsin, but living in Tennessee now may have given him a little extra incentive to record “Tennessee Christmas,” the holiday favorite first made famous by its co-writer, Amy Grant. Serviced to country radio last week and available to fans now as a digital single, the song is one that Danny was delighted to sing as the first holiday music he’s ever released.

“I love Amy Grant’s version of ‘Tennessee Christmas,’” Danny says.By recording the song, I wanted to add my own soulful country touch to this wonderful classic.”

Danny co-hosted this past weekend’s online red carpet broadcast for the American Music Awards, where fellow country Idol Carrie Underwood took home her sixth AMA trophy. Danny is currently a nominee for FOX’s first-ever American Country Awards. He’s hoping to be the first recipient of the “Artist of the Year: Breakthrough Artist” award.The American Country Awards will air December 6 on FOX, and Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler are also nominated.

This past March, the 19 Recordings/RCA Nashville recording artist made chart history with the release of his debut album, My Best Days, which set a digital sales record and delivered the best first-week sales of any debut country male in 18 years. Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert is releasing a new EP called Acoustic Live! The album will be released on December 6, 2010, but you can pre-order it now on Adam’s official website.

The EP includes five songs, which are all stripped down versions of some of the most popular tracks off Adam’s debut album, For Your Entertainment. According to Adam’s website, the tracks include “Whataya Want From Me” and “Music Again”, which were recorded while the superstar was in Germany, and “Aftermath” and “Soaked” from Adam’s Glam Nation tour will be included.
