Exclusive Interview with Michael Sarver

Season 8s Michael Sarver just became the 50th American Idol to appear on the Billboard charts. We caught up with Michael to find out more about his self-titled debut album, advice for the touring Season 9 finalists, and his future.

Michaels self-titled debut album is what landed him on the Billboard charts. Hes had a very busy year since coming in 10th place on Season 8 and touring the country with the Top 10 Idols. The record seemed very slow to create, but Im very pleased with the gradual process. It allowed time to pour myself into it. From the first to last track, its all carefully thought out and relates to my life. Im a lover. I love life and love. Im only 29 but Ive been through a lot. Through the album I share my story. It has turned into exactly what I wanted and Im so proud.

When Michael was on the show he revealed that he wrote over 900 songs. He wrote or co-wrote seven of the tracks on Michael Sarver. Even the songs I didnt write, I was personally involved with arranging them and producing them. Of all the tracks on the album, Michaels favorite is Safe (track #5). Everybody tries to explain love, Michael said, and this song talks about how the aspect of true love is the safety you feel with that person. You allow your vulnerabilities to be seen. Sharing your dreams and ambitions is safe with them.

Benefit Concert Featuring Phil Stacey

Season 6 American Idol finalist Phil Stacey will perform at the Hunger Awareness Benefit Concert on August 20th at 7pm at the United Methodist Church of Brandon, Florida. The show will benefit the Emergency Care Help Organization (ECHO). Joni Damico, the center director at ECHO, won a contest a while back which enabled her to meet American Idol finalists including Phil. She told him about her idea for an ECHO benefit concert. Phil spent a day with the organization in June and said, I believe that benefits such as this are one of the greatest things that came out of American Idol for meI believe ECHO is doing a great job of reaching out to people who need a hand to help them get on their feet. I want to be a part of that.
