Oscars 2013: Host Seth MacFarlane’s Jokes — The Hit List

Funnyman Seth MacFarlane appeared on the 2013 Oscar stage, ready to entertain — and occasionally causing some gasps as he took some hilarious swipes.

In his opening line, MacFarlane quipped, “And the quest to make Tommy Lee Jones laugh begins now.”

Here are some highlights:

On Chris Brown and Rihanna: “’Django Chained’ is the story of a man fighting to get back his woman, who’s been subjected to unthinkable violence. Or as Chris Brown and Rihanna call it, a date movie.”

On Mel Gibson: Continuing on Quentin Tarantino’s slavery-era flick, which famously makes liberal use of the “N” word, MacFarlane said, “I’m told the screenplay is loosely based off of Mel Gibson’s voicemails.”

Oscars Red Carpet: Jessica Chastain on Boyfriend Gian Luca Passi

“Extra’s” Mario Lopez spoke with Jessica Chastain on the 2013 Oscars red carpet, who opened up about her relationship with boyfriend Gian Luca Passi, an Italian fashion exec.

The “Zero Dark Thirty” star, who brought her grandmother as her date, was all smiles when Lopez asked her about Passi. “I am very, very happy. It’s a wonderful thing when a career does so well and your personal life goes so well.”

The Best Actress nominee also admitted she did not write a speech. “Honestly, I don’t think it’s my year this year.”
