Ellen DeGeneres has decided to bow out from her role as a judge on American Idol next season.Ellen served as a judge during the ninth season of Idol, the No. 1 hit series on television.

A couple months ago, I let FOX and the American Idol producers know that this didnt feel like the right fit for me, said Ellen. I told them I wouldnt leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for.I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on Idol and I am very grateful for the year I had.I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.

We love Ellen and understand and support her decision to bow out of Idol, said Peter Rice, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Networks Group.We were fortunateto receive the humor, energy and love for talent that she brought to the show.

Season 8s Michael Sarver just became the 50^th American Idol to appear on the Billboard charts. We caught up with Michael to find out more about his self-titled debut album, advice for the touring Season 9 finalists, and his future.

Michaels self-titled debut album is what landed him on the Billboard charts. Hes had a very busy year since coming in 10^th place on Season 8 and touring the country with the Top 10 Idols. The record seemed very slow to create, but Im very pleased with the gradual process. It allowed time to pour myself into it. From the first to last track, its all carefully thought out and relates to my life. Im a lover. I love life and love. Im only 29 but Ive been through a lot. Through the album I share my story. It has turned into exactly what I wanted and Im so proud.

When Michael was on the show he revealed that he wrote over 900 songs. He wrote or co-wrote seven of the tracks on Michael Sarver. Even the songs I didnt write, I was personally involved with arranging them and producing them. Of all the tracks on the album, Michaels favorite is Safe (track #5). Everybody tries to explain love, Michael said, and this song talks about how the aspect of true love is the safety you feel with that person. You allow your vulnerabilities to be seen. Sharing your dreams and ambitions is safe with them.

Benefit Concert Featuring Phil Stacey

Season 6 American Idol finalist Phil Stacey will perform at the Hunger Awareness Benefit Concert on August 20^th at 7pm at the United Methodist Church of Brandon, Florida. The show will benefit the Emergency Care Help Organization (ECHO). Joni Damico, the center director at ECHO, won a contest a while back which enabled her to meet American Idol finalists including Phil. She told him about her idea for an ECHO benefit concert. Phil spent a day with the organization in June and said, I believe that benefits such as this are one of the greatest things that came out of American Idol for meI believe ECHO is doing a great job of reaching out to people who need a hand to help them get on their feet. I want to be a part of that.

Justin Guarini to Star on Broadway

Season 1 runner-up Justin Guarini will make his Broadway debut as Carlos in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. He will star alongside Broadway greats including Patti LuPone and Brian Stokes Mitchell.

Based on Pedro Almodvars Oscar-nominated 1988 film, Women on the Verge is a story about women and the men who pursue them. Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher (South Pacific) will direct the world premiere of Women on the Verge, which was penned by Tony-nominated Dirty Rotten Scoundrels collaborators David Yazbek (music and lyrics) and Jeffrey Lane (book).

Tickets will go on sale to Lincoln Center Theater members August 23^rd, followed by a release to the general public on August 30^th. Women on the Verge will begin previews at the newly-renovated Belasco Theatre October 2^nd.

Hours before Aaron Kelly took the Staples Center stage with the American Idols LIVE! 2010 Tour, he opened up to AmericanIdol.com about his favorite tour stop, auditions advice, and his future plans.

With only a few weeks left on tour, we wanted to know what Aaron likes about touring and what hed miss when its over. My favorite part of being on tour is getting to see all the fans that supported us from day one, Aaron said. I think what Im going to miss most is getting to hang out with the contestants. Weve all become family; weve been together so long and its going to be sad to break apart.

Since Aaron is a minor, his amazing mom has come on tour with him and she rides around the nation on the girls bus. Aaron shared, I definitely love my mom and its always good to have her there for the support. She has always supported me throughout my whole life and its good to have her with me.

Of all the places the Idol Tour has taken Aaron, he revealed, My favorite tour stop was Hershey, PA. That was my hometown show and that was my favorite because it was where all the hometown fans and friends and family were. It was so much fun, and that was where they cheered the loudest for me.

When Didi Benami came to Los Angeles with the American Idols LIVE! 2010 Tour, she talked to AmericanIdol.com about life on the road, an album shes working on, and her future plans.

As the tenth place finalist, Didi gets to kick off the tour each night with her set. Its very cool; its an honor, Didi said about being the first finalist on stage. I dont like being stuck somewhere in the middle, so its nice to be at the opening of the show. The only thing that could be a downfall about it is that not everybodys actually there yet, but its still a really amazing opportunity and Im totally blessed to be here and Im happy. I love doing it.

Does Didi still get nervous before taking the stage? I did the very first time I went out. I think Im going to get a little nervous tonight because this is kind of like a homecoming. I mean Knoxville was too, but this is like where Im currently stationed. But, Im happy and Im excited. Im not nervous right now, but I might be when I get on stage I have a lot of friends and family coming out tonight.

RTL verslaggever Conny Mus is op 20 augustus 2010 overleden aan een hartaanval. Mus deed sinds de oprichting van RTL verslag vanuit het Midden Oosten en is in de loop der jaren het gezicht geworden voor verslaggeving vanuit Jeruzalem. Conny is 59 jaar geworden.

Allereerste begin
Conny Mus was correspondent voor RTL sinds het allereerste begin in 1989, bij RTL Veronique. Daarvoor werkte hij al als freelancer voor de publieke omroepen en buitenlandse televisiestations, zoals de BBC en CNN. Meer dan 20 jaar versloeg hij voor RTL Nieuws het nieuws uit het Midden-Oosten vanuit zijn standplaats Jeruzalem.

In een reactie zegt Harm Taselaar, hoofdredacteur RTL Nieuws: "Conny Mus was een icoon van het RTL Nieuws. Een man van het eerste uur. Een buitengewoon goede en bevlogen journalist, een voorbeeld voor veel collega's. Daarnaast was hij een lief en geweldig mens. Een trouwe vriend. En hij had heel veel vrienden. Zowel binnen RTL als daarbuiten. Iedereen hield van Conny. We zullen hem zo ontzettend missen.”

"Ik werd bij RTL meteen voor de leeuwen gegooid bij de revolutie in Roemenië", zei Conny zelf in een interview. In de meer dan 20 jaar die volgden, was hij een vast ankerpunt voor de verslaggeving rond de grote nieuwsfeiten in het Midden-Oosten. Daarbij ging het vaak om de bloedige gebeurtenissen in Israël en in de Palestijnse gebieden, maar Conny deed ook verslag van de twee Golfoorlogen, hij maakte reportages in Kosovo en aardbevingen in Turkije, de Libanonoorlog en nog veel meer.

In totaal was Conny meer dan 1300 keer te zien in de uitzendingen van RTL Nieuws; altijd objectief, en betrokken als het nodig was. RTL Nieuws kon altijd een beroep doen op de kennis van Conny; recent nog tijdens de konvooicrisis, toen hij kijkersvragen beantwoordde via de site. De betrokkenheid bij het nieuws, en de mensen er achter, is ook duidelijk te zien in de laatste bijdrage van Conny Mus, die RTL Nieuws op 7 augustus uitzond.

Het doet me altijd goed om te zien hoe RTL de dood van hun langst meelopende collega’s niet zomaar beschouwd als een item voor het reguliere nieuws. Net als bij de dood van Stan Storimans in 2008 staat RTL weer uitgebreid stil bij de dood van een icoon en wordt het harde (en soms onmogelijke) werk van Conny Mus door velen gerespecteerd. Niet alleen door personeel van RTL Nieuws, ook talloze buitenlandse verslaggevers hebben Conny bedankt voor de toewijding en het doorzettingsvermogen dat hij op elke locatie liet zien. Tragedies als deze tonen als geen ander hoe hecht de televisie wereld is. Laten we hopen dat dit nooit veranderd.
